Draining the swamp in eight days…. It is the final countdown days to November 3 and in my mind, Biden leads the race. Many in the South Asian community have asked me if I had any insider information as quite a few have been privy to my articles and my volunteered campaign picture attached to them, perhaps, leading them to think, I know it all. Here is my shot at it. Three weeks ago, it was Biden, then a week ago back to Trump in the lead and this week it is all in a tie. On my mind is undoubtedly, the most plagued election this great nation will ever see. Its drama, its speculations galore, its action! This we have known for a while now, except no name was attached or given to Mr.Trump by the Democrats, past or present. No avenging outbursts to "Crooked" or "Sleepy". I am daring to take a pot shot here and call Mr. Donald J Trump out to convince him to say, "Bye Don"!
Let me keep this read on a lighter side of the current day's happenings. Between the confirmation of the new Supreme Court Judge and Trump in a rally in Pennsylvania chanting with the crowds, "COVID", "COVID!", "COVID!" (as if translating to 'We want More!') , there is Vice president Pence campaigning unmasked with a crowd unmasked, riding on ' blame it all on the pandemic but we will win the re-election', it's getting as frustrating as this paragraph. In response to my campaign vote posters on social media to friends and family, the 'already voted' vs. 'undecided' vs. 'seriously?Ya think 'sleepy' Joe can take the heat?', there is an underground war at play that the Biden-Harris team and all the Democrats are dreading. While there is a step by step description on the net, and how the votes are counted and what happens on election day up until close at 9 pm the same day——the one result the election day this year is bound to create, is a dual projection with both sides predicting victory. Safe to say that both sides will be forcing recounts and questioning authenticity of mail – in votes. So, the delay/prolong tactics will most likely be the only result of the day! If you are looking for a horse race narrative right now to the eight days to D day, then you are in for a very tough commentary on whose reigning in on a course flawed with stumps, and there are plenty. The commentary, therefore, is already sounding anything but veritable, the obvious blame of the pandemic becoming the key source to the uncertainty of all projections for both parties. Enough said.
Turning to choices, for both American people and the parties elected, the resurgence of the virus continues to appall and give the Democrats more icing to spread noise over Trump's views on it.The question to behold is how America must be seen in the eyes of the world. Do people want American dignity restored or the economy? What is the need of the hour? On the one side is a sitting businessman President, supposedly a lying president, accusing science and its credibility like an expert and defying the virus head-on and unmasked, and on the other, is a kinder gentleman with 47 years of experience in government about to raise taxes, kill oil for other alternatives and really no plan on plans unfolded, who then can or will restore both? While the very liberal press as seen on television and media expound on their glorious and biased reporting for and on both sides, it does not take away from thoughts that Biden holds the dignity flag, while Trump is the man who understands money better but had the bad luck to have the global pandemic arrive during his re-election campaign. That said, brings the tougher of the two choices on who will better keep America safe? One democrat asked, "safe from what? Its own deceiving President?"
As of today, 62 million people have voted and the early voting, mail- in ballots and polls are showing Biden is in the lead. There is also a book out that hails the masochism and unapologetic image Trump exudes. Unbelievable as most would think, the truth of the matter is it has appealed to a vast number of people, especially amongst the Latino men. Different kinds of leadership a potentially dangerous time in election if Trump loses. He would have enough time as sitting President before inauguration, to undermine the system, and we can be seen holding on to our hats as the winds will be forceful enough to assume, presume and hope till the voting numbers rack up for the winner.
Biden is perched as a moderate. The DNC press secretary claimed that if elected, the former Vice President will have, "the most progressive administration in the history of our party." I am certain the RNC press secretary is saying more than just that. Bottomline, it is the people; for, of and by the people that will determine the caliber of a good President. Any candidate that undermines democracy will be public enemy. The greater enemy is unfortunately and currently the virus itself. The Chief of Staff just blatantly said the White House will not control the pandemic. Biden's remark that he would shut down the virus and not the country comes out the stronger, no doubt. Needless to say, the eight days ahead will culminate hopefully in the belief that making America great again will need a good man with great thinking, but in politics the definition of both has left much to be desired. While the pandemic strategy for Trump on the virus is "surrender", for Biden the hope is that people should neither learn to live with it and certainly not learn to die with it. As I close, the new Supreme Court Justice Barrett has been rushed into being confirmed and a new ally on the bench will shield Trump on his needs. Somehow something just do not feel right. As an ordinary person watching from the sidelines, I can only rely on taking the right action that is universal to the definition of what's right. Hope is not a strategy, but I can rely on my good conscience and with confidence support my choice and wish for the best. In the meantime, let go of 'bygones' and now, "Bye Don"!
